Does God really want to help me?

I'm a man and I am attracted to other men. I can't help it! I've prayed and asked God to not have those feelings anymore but they never go away. I can't help but feel like either He does not want to help me or that he is just not really there!

God loves you so so much, more than you know. He feels your pain. I don't know what the answer to your situation is, but God WILL take care of you. He wants the best possible life for you and is closer than you think, even when it feels like he's far away.

I know a few guys in your situation. like above, I don't know what your answer is, but I know God does - and I really, really admire your faith and trust. Please keep trusting in Him, you'll figure it out, and whether you know it or know, He's always always there with you. I'm so praying for you. God created you specifically - everything about you. And He has a huuuge plan for your life. You're awesome in His eyes and in my eyes and to a lott of people - please remember that, keep praying, and just trust in Him. Hi OP, I just want to give my support for you in this area. As a Christian, I believe this is one of the most sensitive issues of our day, and though I don't have to personally deal with the confusion of Christianity and homosexuality, my heart goes out to those who do.

I don't have the answers, and sometimes I don't even know why I'm so passionate about this issue. But I definitely join you in prayer for strength and revelation from God for all those facing similar situations. There is a lot of criticism from the religious communities regarding this, but drown out the noise and know that God loves you (and I love you too!). Keep pursuing Him until you find peace!

I really appreciate the kind words. I really do wish people would stop telling me they love me. That's weird. You don't know me at all. You don;t even know my name. You all seem like very nice people but its a really big turn off when you say you love me when you literally know NOTHING about me. You gotta stop doing that. I mean i guess people need to hear it but you and I both know it's not real. I get it, you love me because Jesus loved me, or you love me because you think I need love. Maybe I do. Maybe I don't. You don;t know. Please stop saying things you don't really mean. Again, Thanks for the kind words. There needs to be more people to stand up for the LGBT community. That's love!

Ouch. I get and respect your point, but still, ouch. You're right that I don't know you, your name, or even your circumstances. I never intended to imply that you needed or didn't need love. All I know is that when I said my heart goes out to people struggling with homosexuality, I meant it. For a while now I've been finding ways to understand and reach out to those people (specifically youth). I'm sorry to have offended you if I did, I just hope you didn't see my comment as phony or patronizing.

Hey OP--You're definitely not the only one in this situation. This is something I've dealt with and wrestled with for a while... Sometimes I feel like I got saddled with the worst sin struggle possible and other times I trust God to know what He's doing. Idk how this site works, but I'd be more than happy to talk through my though process sometime.

Have you considered that perhaps God *meant* you to be this way, and that you should be accepting yourself the way He made you, rather than trying to reject it?

Yeah I have. But I don't like it. I tried to be okay with it but I'm not. I can lie to myself all day long but at the end of the day I know its not the way I was meant to be. I'm also diagnosed with ADHD and ADD. It's a huge struggle for me because it makes life alot harder for me in ALOT of areas. I hate that too! I've accepted it but I can't imagine a Perfect God creating this big of a flaw. I think my disposition and orientation are a result of something else, not God! I actually think God is pretty cool!

Being gay isn't a flaw! I'm gay, and I'm no less of a person than anyone else. I'm also in a relationship that makes me incredibly happy. You can be gay and still live a wonderful life with a family, a successful career, AND your faith.

If these things about you are flaws and not from God, then do you think God would always make perfect people? I don't know about you, but that sounds like a very uninteresting world. Everyone is different, and we all need to accept that. I'm not gay, but I do have ADD and know how hard it is at MIT.
